Hen Hangout@ Mount Emily - Wild Rocket

A few Saturdays ago, a few of us dragged our tired and "massage-craving" bodies off to a simple spa-and-dinner party for a close girlfriend who is getting married over the 07-07 weekend.

In preparation for the spa, most of us worked our appendages, shoulders, backs and all to 'carpal-tunnel-syndrome' standard to ironically have them massaged out in the variety of deep-tissue, Aramsa Touch (for those like me allergic to pain) and the Swedish Recharge, etc.

Despite being a stone throw away from where I stay, I've never had the inclination to try out the Garden spa. But I was glad we did. The rooms were catered to ensure maximum privacy but still oozing much of the therapeutic charm nature brings. The masseurs were very professional. Though we shared rooms, any indecency was a bare minimum with their expert use of hands and towels to create ad-hoc dis-robing space.

After the much needed spa therapy, we headed over to Wild Rocket@ Mt Emily for dinner. I've been to Wild Rocket a couple of times before I started this blog, so I was pretty excited to finally get a few pictures of Chef Wilin's, lawyer turn self-made chef, classics and signatures.

My previous visits were always stomach-bursting, with glowing recommendations for his lamb chops, crab meat tomato pasta, gula melaka ice cream, 'yada yada yada'...

The favourites remain consistent in their quality and standard. I would recommend sharing any of Chef Wilin's pastas or meats. The portions are typically generous and the pastas tend to be on their heavier side. Plus, it's always good to share, that only means one thing - variety! I was slightly disappointed with the beef tenderloin though. Although it was the specials for dinner that evening, it barely warranted any highlight for the night. A little on the tough side, it was a little boring.

The highlights have to be the alpha and the omega -the salmon appetizers and the desserts. Paired with a fusion of mayonnaise, ebi roe, and alfalfa sprouts, the end result is a refreshing twist on the common salmon sashimi. Desserts, decadent as ever, featured the must have rich chocolate cake with vanilla ice-cream, tiramisu and a new black forest brownie.

If that's insufficient accolades for this aspiring young chef, he had also recently extended the realization of his dreams, opening a second establishment -Wild Oats in the charming colonial bungalow right next door. Drinks, Cocktails, delectable finger foods, Star Gazing, he's designed the perfect remedy for the jaded urbanite.
